Isolating Federation Square
Mason Industries had the pleasure of working on Federation Square with Multiplex and Mason Australasia from the earliest tendering stages.
The isolation of the entire structure from the railroad that passes through it was so complex that Norm Mason flew over from New York to coordinate the project.
When standard designs did not fit and delivery became critical, he completed a redesign within a few days to solve both problems with the full approval of the acoustical consultant. The modular design of the spring packages made it possible for New York to change capacities in response to field conditions and structural changes all through the project.
All isolation pads were molded in our New York facility and tuned as necessary to attain the specified frequencies. Single responsibility for both the spring mountings and pads is very important on all projects.
